Zest Hotel Groundbreaking Ceremony on Spice Island Ambon Marks Hotel Group's Expansion in East Indonesia

JAKARTA, INDONESIA - Swiss-Belhotel International continued to expand into new destinations with a groundbreaking ceremony for Zest Hotel Ambon in Maluku archipelago on 26 January 2018, as the 2-star Zest Hotel brand grows in East Indonesia. Zest Hotel International Regional Director of Operations and Projects, Bapak Denny Jatnika, attended the event to mark the start of construction, with the budget hotel due to open its doors at 2019.

Located in the heart of the city of Ambon, on Maluku Islands, one of Indonesia’s famed Spice Islands in the 1000-island region of Maluku, Zest Hotel Ambon will offer 112 rooms with a modern, budget-friendly stay promising international standard facilities and high-quality services in a stunning tropical location.

CEO of Zest Hotels International and Senior Vice President of Operations and Development for Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, Emmanuel Guillard, explains how the groundbreaking event is truly ground breaking. “Zest Hotel Ambon is set to become the first budget hotel of an international caliber in the region and reflects the growing popularity of Ambon as a city that is on the map for tourists and corporate guests. Ambon has direct flights to Jakarta and can be easily reached via a domestic flight.”

With well-designed connecting rooms, and specially appointed rooms for the physically challenged, Zest Hotel Ambon will feature ensuite bathrooms, Wi-Fi access and LED TVs. The rooms will also have laptop-sized safes, and contactless door locks. Guests will be able to enjoy relaxed breakfasts, as well as snacks and beverages throughout the day, at the inviting Citrus Café™. Visitors can also take advantage of the hotel’s four smart meeting rooms for corporate and social events. With an elevator and parking, the hotel will also provide 24-hour security and CCTV.

Swiss-Belhotel International Chairman and President, Mr. Gavin M. Faull, explains how the start of construction in Ambon is also the start of future plans for Zest Hotels in the region. “ Zest Hotel Ambon is the beginning of our development journey in this part of Indonesia. It will serve as a flagship hotel with more openings in East Indonesia planned for the near future. The hallmarks of a stay with Zest Hotels are affordability and internationally managed accommodation that pushes the benchmark for quality higher while providing a convenient and comfortable stay for tourists and business travellers alike.”

Ambon, the capital of Maluku Province, is also known as Ambon ‘Manise’, which translates as ‘beautiful’ or ‘pretty’, recognition of the beauty of the island with its verdant mountain landscapes, incredible beaches and crystal-clear waters. Surrounded by smaller islands, Ambon has a rich history that defies its peaceful, tropical island character, and a fascinating culture. Renowned for its fantastic food, the island has a strong sense of heritage and an innate love of adventure.

Zest Hotels, which is wholly owned by Swiss-Belhotel International, is on track to become a leading budget hotel brand delivering modern stays with light and fresh interiors and a refreshing hotel experience. The brand’s focus is on creating a more connected stay from easy booking online, flexible payment options, as well as check-in and check-out times, plus instant Wi-Fi connectivity.
